MARICEL LAXA is the first child and only daughter to celebrity couple Imelda Ilanan and Tony Ferrer. In 1988 and in 1989, she landed a role as leading lady to one of the Philippines’ top comedians via a comic movie. With a string of supporting roles for a number of movies, Maricel was launched in a dramatic vehicle, "Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin" opposite the country’s top actors and actresses for which she garnered several nominations in the best actress category.[citation needed] She realized that sweet feeling of success in the release of the 1992 movie "Iisa Pa Lamang" in which she won as Best Supporting Actress in both the 1992 FAMAS Awards and 1992 Star Awards. Maricel married celebrity host/management trainer Anthony Pangilinan in December of 1993
She graduated with a degree of B.S. Social Sciences at the University of the Philippines, Manila and earned her Master's Degree in Family Life and Child Development at the University of the Philippines, Diliman.
Maricel is a proud born-again Christian.
