Sarsi Emmanuelle

Sarsi Emmanuelle

Sarsi Emmanuele was a go-go dancer before she became of the "soft drink beauties", the other two were Pepsi Paloma and Coca Nicolas. She was one of the highest paid bold stars during the height of her popularity.

She proved that she was not only a beauty when she worked with respected and award-winning directors. She was the lead star in Boatman , a film by Director Tikoy Aguiluz. She was an Urian award nominee for her role in this film but eventually lost to Vilma Santos who essayed the role of an activist nun in Sister Stella L . In the bio-pic of Yvonne, an earlier bomba star, she tied for the Urian’s best supporting actress award with Maya ‘Mitch’ Valdez . She also made Virgin Forest under Director Peque Gallaga and Naked City under Director Romy Suzara in the 80’s. She also made several pictures under Director Celso Ad. Castillo.

In 2005, Butch Francisco wrote

Not so long ago, she resurfaced and told the world about the humbling experiences she went through away from the limelight – including working as a takilyera in a feria operated by a relative.

,

She made a comeback last year and was cast in an ABS-CBN soap opera. But now is not really the best time to be in show business. We make very few films. Digital movies pay the actors so little (because the budget is so small) and the only way to survive on TV is to have enough strength to wear those heavy costumes in fantaseryes. But there will always be room for a real talent like Sarsi – one of the few gifted actresses who had to go through the sex film route first before being recognized for her true worth.

She was almost disqualified from representing the Philippines in the Miss Universe Pageant for being a former Gerard Peter model. In 1983, she was launched as a movie star in a big budgeted movie Sana Bukas pa ang Kahapon. She co-starred with

Myra Manibog

Myra Manibog

Through prayers, Myra Manibog has gotten over her sad past life as a
bold star. And what a past it was – having done lurid sex scenes on
the big screen in the mid-’80s. She must have been the most exploited
in her batch because she claimed in her interview that she was only 13
when she started doing those sex films. No wonder she went later in
life, but mercifully was redeemed when she found the Lord. Today, she
is a preacher and has found peace at last.

Listening to Myra, you will be impressed with the way she speaks. For
somebody whose dialogues in the movies were limited to ooohs and
aaahs, she is very articulate and her thoughts are fluid.

Obviously she had always been intelligent, but was young and misguided
and so she chose the wrong path. But she turned in a new leaf and here
she is – the best example of a person who has been to hell and back
and is now in the loving arms of the Almighty God.

Cristina Crisol

Cristina Crisol

Cristina Crisol who was Jean Elizabeh May in real life had nothing but the shapely body and mestiza looks when she joined show business thru bold flicks.

Hers was a brief fame and fortune. After appearing in 12 movies such as Kikirut-Kirot, Uhaw na Uhaw, Di mahilom ang Sugat and Paraisong Gubat, she simply disappeared from
the public’s view.

In 2008, Cristina resurfaced in GMA’s Wish Ko Lang, Channel 7 multi- awarded TV program. It’s another sad story of a former star in dire need of help. She’s now married to a construction worker and with children. She hopes to revive her career.

ROBIN PADILLA

ROBIN PADILLA

BIOGRAPHY OF ROBIN PADILLA

Robinhood Fernando Carino Padilla (born November 23, 1967, Manila, Philippines) is a Filipino action star who earned the showbiz moniker "The Bad Boy of Philippine Action Movies" during the '90s when he played cold-blooded gangster roles in movies like "Anak ni Baby Ama", "Grease Gun Gang". and the title-roler, "Bad Boy 2".

He was one of Viva Films' top hitmakers alongside Sharon Cuneta and Andrew E. However, his reign as "Bad Boy" was cut short when he had been convicted in the mid 1990s of illegal possession of firearms and spent time in jail. He was released in 1998. A self-confessed former addict, he converted to Islam while in jail.He was also a close companion of a fellow Islam-convert Gene Gallofin a.k.a. Jamil Ghaleb while serving in the penetentiary, who is known for his islamic rights activism. A controversy arose recently when Padilla's bodyguard alias "Kumander Kosovo" was tagged by the Philippine authorities as an Abu Sayyaf leader.Kosovo died in a firefight with special forces during the attempted escape of Abu Sayyaf leaders from the heavily fortified prison facility, Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

Shortly after his release from jail, he had reinvented himself as a versatile actor who can do justice to different film genres ranging from action to drama and comedy. His first film after his release from jail was "Tulak ng Bibig, Kabig ng Dibdib", where he was paired with Maricel Soriano. After his comeback film, he opted out of his exclusive contract with Viva Films and was allowed to do movies for other film outfits including Star Cinema Productions, FLT Films , Millennium Cinema and GMA Films.

Robin crossed over to television via the ABS-CBN comedy show "Pwedeng-Pwede", which teamed him with Kris Aquino and Redford White. Again, setting a trend among Philippine action stars, he was the first action star to topbill a daily action-drama series, "Basta't Kasama Kita" opposite Judy Ann Santos. In 2005 he did two movies: the horror thriller "Kulimlim" and the comedy "La Visa Loca". He got rave reviews in the latter movie and received Best Actor honors in the 2006 Urian Awards.

Padilla is currently a contract artist of GMA Network and starred in the top rating TV series Asian Treasures (which ended on June 29, 2007) with Angel Locsin, the series was shot all over Asia, the first Philippine TV series to do so. He has also signed a two film contract under GMA Network's film outfit GMA Films; first was Till I Met You with Regine Velasquez and was a blockbbuster hit, the second one will be a dramedy with Mega Star Sharon Cuneta, under the direction of Jose Javier Reyes, and is scheduled to begin filming this October for a 2nd quarter of 2008 release.

Robin, an anti-malaria advocate since 2004 appealed for media support for his cause against the dreaded disease, to help his Muslim brethren (in the press briefing of Department of Health's Movement Against Malaria). As MAM spokesperson, Robin said he engaged television networks in the campaign for the use of mosquito nets. His MAM posters are now being sent to rural health clinics all over the country. Robin also collected 1 million Philippine pesos for the Muslim cemetery in Norzagaray, Bulacan.
Padilla flew to Turkey to attend a conference concerning the Liwanag ng Kapayapaan Foundation, a free preschool he built for Muslim children in Quezon City, which opened in 2007. Meanwhile, after his top-rating action-adventure series, Asian Treasures ended, Robin is set to do a Jose Javier Reyes film opposite Sharon Cuneta.

On September 15, 2007 he donated 2.5 million Philippine pesos to the Muay Association of the Philippines.[1] On March 7, 2008 Robin Padilla suffered minor injuries while taping a motorcycle stunt for Joaquin Bordado, in Subic Bay, Zambales.

He has four children, a son named Ali and three daughters Queenie, Kylie and Zhen-Zhen. He owns a house at posh Pines Ville Street, Greenview Executive Village, Barangay Sauyo, Novaliches, Quezon City, where thieves stole his Motorola cellular phone and a 357 Luger, a German-made handgun loaded with 6 bullets, on May 3, 2008.

His wife is Liezl and he is the brother of Rustom (Bebe Gandanghari) Padilla and Royette Padilla. He is from the clan of Padilla.

DINA BONNEVIE

Geraldine Schaer Bonnevie was born January 27, 1961 to Honesto Bonnevie and Jeannette Schaer. Her grandmother is pre-World War II actress Rosita Rivera. She has two children by comedian Vic Sotto, who are now also interested in acting. She began her schooling in St. Theresa's College, Manila, but finished her elementary and secondary education at St. Agnes' Academy in Legaspi City, where she was very active in drama guilds. In 1980 she enrolled in Communication Arts at the Ateneo de Manila University and, later, the University of the Philippines. Introduced by young actor Alfie Anido to director 'Joey Gosiengfiao, she first appeared in teen dramas Underage (1980) and Temptation Island (1981), but her launching movie was _Katorse (1984)_ with Anido and Gabby Concepcion. This film established her as one of the "Regal Babies" (named after the studio, Regal Films). She then appeared in a longer slew of teenage love or growing-pains dramas. Bakit ba ganyan (1981) was a film where she herself sang the theme song and popularized it thus.

In 1985 she ventured into dramatic roles, starting with 'Mike de Leon' 's Hindi nahahati ang langit (1985). Her other films are "A Dangerous Life" (1988) (mini), with American actor Gary Busey; Orapronobis (1989), Pangarap na ginto (1990), Huwag mong salingin ang sugat ko (1991) and Akin ang pangarap mo (1992). In Babaeng nawawala sa sarili, Ang (1989), Bonnevie sizzled and wowed critics and audiences alike in the role of a possessed woman. She also portrayed real-life characters, such as in Eskapo: The Serge Osmena-Geny Lopez Story (1995), as the wife of Geny Lopez; as one of the accused parents in the child-molestation drama, Minsan May Pangarap: The Guce Family Story (1995), shot in New York City; as the girlfriend of activist Leopoldo Mabilangan in Ka Hector (1995); and as Governor Chavit Singson's wife in Chavit (2003), opposite Cesar Montano.

Other notable films where Bonnevie showed maturity as an actress of the highest calibre include: Tinik sa dibdib (1985), for which she won Best Supporting Actress at the Film Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) and Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) awarding ceremonies; Magdusa ka (1986), for which she was given Best Actress awards by FAMAS, FAP and Catholic Mass Media Awards; Gumapang ka sa lusak (1990), directed by Lino Brocka, for which she was nominated by FAMAS and URIAN Awards for Best Actress; and Sa kabila ng lahat (1991), for which she was nominated by FAMAS, FAP and Urian Awards for Best Actress. Other acting nominations are for Kung kasalanan man (1989), FAMAS; Bakit kay tagal ng sandali? (1990), FAP; Tanging yaman (2000), which won Best Picture in nearly all the local awards ceremonies and gave her an URIAN Best Supporting Actress nomination; American Adobo (2001), URIAN Best Actress nomination; and Bridal Shower (2004), URIAN Best Actress nomination again. Bonnevie also appeared in bright comedies with her ex-husband, Vic Sotto, in Hindi pa tapos ang labada, Darling! (1994) and Bakit ba ganyan? (Ewan ko nga ba, Darling) (2000). When they were still married they also appeared together in Ride on Baby (1985) and Mama Said, Papa Said, I Love You (1985). Bonnevie also topbilled Tatarin (2001), based on the short story "Summer Solstice" by Nick Joaquin; critics nearly panned the movie but appreciated Bonnevie's nuanced characterization of Lupe Moreta. A dramatic actress who chooses her roles wisely and a loving mother of two, Bonnevie is sorely missed from present-day Filipino movies. Except for her stints on soap operas and for judging a recent TV talent contest (and just recently, appearing unclothed as the cover of FHM Magazine).

She was married twice. The first was with Vic Sotto to whom she has two children, Danica and Oyoboy. They divorced.

The second marriage was with Richard Dick Penson, from whom he is separated.

JOBELLE SALVADOR

JOBELLE SALVADOR

Jobelle Salvador is the daughter of LEROY SALVADOR AND BELLA SALVADOR. She lived in Japan in ten years.

She has two children, one with Robin Padilla named Jeremiah Joseph Leroy Salvador (Mico for short), turning 18 in June, and Jullyna Louise, six, by her former Japanese boyfriend. (Mico is a high school junior at the International Secondary School and Jullyna is in Grade One at the Azabu Fhougakkon).

She was coming home once a year, especially during the launching of the Bagets Foundation headed by Quezon City Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista (together with fellow stars of the 1984 landmark movie Bagets, including Herbert himself, Raymond Lauchengco, Ramon Christopher, Eula Valdez, Cheska Iñigo, William Martinez, Yayo Aguila, Francis Magalona and Aga Muhlach). Or she flies to Las Vegas to visit her mom, Bella Salvador (widow of director-producer Leroy Salvador), who lives there with the rest of Jobelle's siblings.

It has been a long-winding road to Japan . Jobelle left the Philippines in early 1990s, with Guam as first stop, mainly "to sort out Mico's papers." She got stuck for two years in Guam where she initially worked as guest relation officer of the banquet department (and later as GRO of the Galaxy Lounge) of the Pacific Star Hotel where she sang during the Happy Hours.

Aside from acting, Montano also embarked on a singing career, with the release of his music album Subok lang or Just try in 2000. He has also ventured into film production as well as directing, with Panaghoy sa Suba as his directorial film debut.

After his first Hollywood movie The Great Raid with Benjamin Bratt, he was cast in another Hollywood movie Another Deep Breath'.

In May 2007, he ran for senate under the coalition TEAM UNITY (TU). Unfortunately, he lost by landslide (ranking only 22nd). GMA news reported that he lost about P40 million worth of endorsement for running in public office.

Montano, fondly called by his nickname Buboy, was born and raised in Sta. Ana, Manila, Philippines, but traces his roots to the Manhilots of Baclayon, in the island province of Bohol in Central Visayas, Philippines.

He is the fifth of seven children born to a lawyer and his Seventh-day Adventist wife. Montano says discipline was the hallmark of his childhood: he describes his father as a strict disciplinarian, and his mother imposing the religious prohibitions of "no pork" and "no movies".

Montano went to the Sta. Ana Elementary School, and finished Engineering at the Lyceum. An average student, he was good at drawing and would have become a painter, if not a singer, if he hadn't become an actor.

Montano was first married to Marilyn Polinga, a fellow Boholano he met at a local Seventh-day Adventist Church. Their two children, Angela and Angelo, grew up with her when they separated as a couple. When she died of a brain tumor in 1993, the children moved back with him. His other son, Caloy Diego, lives with his mother, Filipino actress Teresa Loyzaga, in Australia.

He is currently married to Philippine actress Sunshine Cruz with whom he has two daughters, Angeline Isabelle and Samantha Angeline.

The acting bug bit Montano when he was in his senior year in college in 1984, and soon enough, he was taking acting workshops with the likes of Joel Lamangan and Imee Marcos, and landed the role of elevator boy in "Estremenggoles." TV and movie roles quickly followed: "Agos" with Gretchen Barretto, the Pinoy Thriller, "Regal Shocker", and the "Maricel Soriano Drama Special". He did a lot of B movies which he prefers to call "trash" movies rather than bold.

Montano's passion for acting was first seen in Dulaang UP's stage productions. He was an active member of University of the Philippines or UP Playwright under the direction of Tony Mabesa.

His first movie careers were as a stuntman for a lot of known Filipino actors. In his early career, he played major roles in several action movies while also having a successful TV career as he played the lead role of Buboy Magtanggol opposite Maricel Soriano in the TV sitcom Bida si Mister, Bida si Misis.

One of his greatest performances is the role of José Rizal, the Philippine National Hero, in the film José Rizal in 1998. The film, directed by critically acclaimed director Marilou Diaz-Abaya, is unprecedented for depicting Philippine society during Spanish colonization of the Philippines and its relevance up to the present day.

In 1999, he played the role of Fredo, the ruthless captain of 150 muro ami divers in Muro Ami, a film that depicts one of the worst forms of child labor in the illegal fishing industry. The film won thirteen awards at the 1999 Metro Manila Film Festival.

JESTONI ALARCON

JESTONI ALARCON

Vir Mateo discovered Jestoni Alarcon when the latter was only 16 years old. Jestoni first movie was with Aga Muhlach, who was just starting out like him then, in Campus Beat, which was produced by Aga's dad, Cheng Muhlach. Jestoni's follow-up movie was with Maricel Soriano in Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit, which was directed by Maryo J. de los Reyes. His third movie was Baby Pascual's Naked Paradise, with Stella Suarez, Jr.

Jestoni signed a two-year exclusive contract with Regal Films and did not get to make even just one movie with the outfit. He then moved on to Seiko Films, initially for a non-exclusive three-picture contract but this proved to be a long-term one.

With Seiko, Jestoni did about 20 films, among them Mahiwagang Singsing, his first with the outfit, and Huwag Mong Buhayin ang Bangkay with the late Charito Solis as his mother. Jestoni did mostly wholesome action films under Seiko Films, known for its sexy flicks and sexy stars.

When Jestoni took a hiatus from showbiz, he turned to politics. He found out he could also be an effective public servant.

ALFIE ANIDO

Alfie Anido biography

Alfie AnidoAlfie Anido (December 31, 1959 – December 30, 1981) was a popular Filipino matinee idol best remembered for his tragic death at the age of 22. He was the eldest of four children of Alberto Anido and Sara Serrano, and was the brother of Albert Anido, another Filipino actor.

Born Alfonso Serrano Anido, he was also a fashion and commercial model before he became a contract star for Regal Films, a leading Filipino film production company. He was dubbed as one of the Regal Babies, along with other than-young actors such as Gabby Concepcion, William Martinez, Albert Martinez, Jimi Melendez, Maricel Soriano, Snooky Serna and Dina Bonnevie. He was famously linked with Bonnevie, his co-star in the 1980 camp classic Temptation Island. At the time of his entry into show business, he was in college at the Ateneo de Manila University taking up Management.

To date, an air of mystery still surrounds the circumstances behind Anido's death. The official version, contemporaneously reported in the mainstream Manila media, was that Anido had shot himself in a suicide. This version has not been officially or authoritatively contradicted to this day. However, immediately after his death, rumors quickly spread that Anido was actually murdered, and that such fact was covered up owing to the prominence of the personalities allegedly involved. The rumor gained traction in Manila, which was then under the throes of the authoritarian rule of Ferdinand Marcos, whose government controlled the mass media during that period. Other versions on the death of Anido were printed in the alternative press such as the Philippine Collegian, the official student organ of the University of the Philippines, a hotbed of anti-Marcos activism. While the rumor that Alfie Anido was murdered still persists, with the aura of an urban legend, the fact remains that no evidence has been put forth to rebut the official version of a suicide.
