KATRINA HALILI

Maria Katrina Irene Pe Halili, or popularly known as Katrina Halili, is a Filipina actress and commercial model. She was born on January 4, 1986 in Quezon City but raised in El Nido, Palawan, Philippines.

Katrina Halili is an alumna of the StarStruck talent search and the cover girl of leading magazines such as FHM Philippines and Maxim Philippines. She was voted as FHM Philippines' sexiest woman for the year 2006 and bagged the title yet again in 2007. She is the first StarStruck contestant to top the FHM Philippines' 100 Sexiest list and the only Filipina celebrity to have won the title twice in a row. She is a three-time FHM Philippines covergirl. With 123,000 votes, she placed 2nd to Marian Rivera in the 2008 Philippines' Finest (FHM 100 Philippines sexiest women list, cover girl).[2] During the same year, she was chosen as the calendar girl for FHM Philippines for the second time. In addition, she also launched her own line of lingeries and swimsuits she called Playmates, and became an image model for the Belo Medical Group.

Halili was formally launched as a character actress on Philippine television by way of Majika and Darna, two fantasy-themed series, wherein she played the villain to the character portrayed by Angel Locsin. GMA 7, her home studio, once again tapped her to play another villain role, and it was in the Philippine version of Marimar that she became a household name.[3] After her stint as villain on these TV programs, she finally starred on her first lead role in a daytime soap entitled Sine Novela: Magdusa Ka, where she was paired with her leading man Dennis Trillo. Before the last few episodes of this soap were shown, she began shooting for Obra, a primetime drama anthology where she showcased her versatility as an actress. In the October 2008, Katrina once again collaborated with Dennis Trillo in Gagambino.

HILDA KORONEL

Susan Reid, who is better known as Hilda Koronel (born on January 17, 1957 in Angeles City, Pampanga), is a FAMAS and Gaward Urian Award winning Filipina actress. Born to a Filipina mother and an American father who was a serviceman in Clark Air Base, she has starred in around 45 films, many of which are critically acclaimed, since 1970.

Her career got off to an unprecedented start becoming the youngest winner of the FAMAS Best Supporting Actress award in 1970 right at the beginning of her career which she won at the age of just 13 for her role in the 1970 film Santiago.

In 1975 and 1976 she starred in the Lino Brocka classics Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag, which won six FAMAS awards in 1976, and Insiang, which won both a FAMAS and a Gawad Urian Award in 1977.

To date she has won three awards and received 11 nominations.

She married Jay Ilagan and two other more.

Memorable recollection

But, our most memorable recollection of our movie with Hilda was the fact that it was during the shoot that she and her young leading man, Jay Ilagan, became (secret) sweethearts.

They had to keep their romance secret because Hilda’s studio frowned on any romantic relationship for its teen princess. But, Hilda and Jay were able to fool everyone―that’s how good they were as actors, even off-camera!

Speaking of Jay Ilagan, he was the local film industry’s most talented teen actor in the ’70s, and directing him was a breeze. Coming from the Ylagan family of theater and film artists, he had great genes and instinctively knew how to approach every role assigned to him.

He was also versatile, essaying very different roles (drama, comedy, musical, action) with ease and believability. Sensing this, we restricted our direction of his scenes to simple suggestions, plus a little tweaking here and there.

IMELDA ILANAN is the mother of Maricel Laxa, an actress and a known TV celebrity.
The father of Maricel Laxa is Tony Ferrer who is married to Alice Crisostomo.

Imelda, now based in Shanghai, China, is in town to help her son, Misha, get a student visa.

"Mahirap kasing mag-apply ng student visa sa China if you are a resident of another country. E, hanggang ngayon even if we’ve been living in China for sometime, pawang mga holder pa kami ng Philippine visas," related Imelda.

Misha, now 20, is her only child with husband Ben Avanceña, now president of Johnson and Johnson in China, Taiwan and Korea.

Misha studies at the St. Louis University in Madrid, Spain, taking up a course in international communications. He would have wanted to take up theaters art in a university in London. "He took his entrance exams in both universities. Kaso, mas nauna siyang nakatanggap ng sagot from the university in Madrid," Imelda said.

Imelda will, likewise, take the opportunity to apply for a visa to Switzerland. Ben, according to her, is going there for a business conference and he wants her to accompany him.

"Unlike in the past when Misha was still studying in a school in China, ayaw na ni Ben na naiiwanan ako sa bahay namin sa China," said Imelda.

Like all residents of China, Imelda is excited about the coming Olympics, which will be held in Beijing. Johnson and Johnson happens to be a major sponsor. They were promised access to the event.

"It was Ben kasi who signed the contract for Johnson and Johnson," she reveled.

Ben Avanceña’s mother is Zenaida "Nini" Quezon-Avanceña, who is the daughter of the late Philippine President Manuel Quezon.

From Imelda, we also learned that her daughter, Maricel Laxa, now Mrs. Anthony Pangilinan, will soon finish her doctorate in Family and Child Development from the University of the Philippines.

Aside from writing a weekly column on family and child care in the Philippine Star, Maricel still occasionally appears on TV. She has several TV commercials. Two of her four kids also have their own product endorsements. One endorses a paracetamol and the other, a healthy drink for children.

Maricel’s husband, Anthony, is the younger brother of Senator Kiko Pangilinan..

FORMER actress Imelda Ilanan tried to turn down offers to do a film with Fernando Poe Jr. twice in the '70s, but the king of Philippine movies was "so persistent that I couldn't say no."

Imelda, one of the most beautiful faces in the late '60s, said FPJ used to visit her almost every day until she agreed to do the movie with him.

"He told me, 'you're the perfect actress for that role. I want you to do it and no one else.' How could you say no to someone like him?" said Imelda, in the home of her daughter, actress Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, in Quezon City.

Imelda said she did not want to do "Asedillo" in 1971 with FPJ because she had been four months pregnant with her second child, Melvin.

"I didn't want to commit to it because I knew we would be shooting on location and that I would have to travel far," Imelda explained. "Ayaw niyang pumayag. He said having a pregnant leading lady would bring him

good luck." (He would not take no for an answer.)

"Asedillo," directed by Celso Ad Castillo and now considered one of

local cinema's best movies, became a box-office hit in 1971. It also brought FPJ his second best actor award from the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (Famas) that same year.FPJ's first Famas best actor

award was for his performance in "Mga Alabok sa Lupa."

Imelda, who played Poe's third wife in "Asedillo," continued to shoot the movie until she was in her ninth month of pregnancy.

Imelda said she did not want to be part of the other movie, "Bontoc," also with FPJ as her leading man and directed by the late Pablo Santiago, because "I didn't want to go bold."

According to Imelda, she had to shoot two "difficult" scenes in "Bontoc." One scene required her to go topless while running on a beach, while the other required her to fight off a rapist.

Imelda said she was supposed to play FPJ's mother in the movie, which she did not like. "How could I play a mother to him?" she said. "I was just 27 when we did that movie, and Ronnie [FPJ's nickname] was way older than I. But Ronnie said I would only be part of the flashback

scenes.

"I'll never forget when he told me, 'if you're an actor, you could do anything,'" Imelda said. "He and Direk Pablo did well in convincing me [to do the movie]. Ronnie said we would buy a long wig to cover my breast while I'm doing the scene on the beach. Direk Pablo promised that

none of my private parts would be exposed during the rape scene.

No regrets

"I believed them, and the movie turned out well," she added. "I'm glad I did that movie. No regrets."

Imelda's first movie was "Geron Busabos, Batang Quiapo" in 1964, with FPJ's best friend, former President Joseph Estrada, in the title role.

Estrada produced the film, written by Augusto Buenaventura and directed by Chat Gallardo, under his JE Productions.

"I played my first lead role in that movie and Ronnie was our guest

star," Imelda recalled.

Imelda also worked with FPJ in "Dos Por Dos" and "Bato sa Buhangin." They were last seen together in "Mabuting Kaibigan, Masamang Kaaway" in 1991.

"Ronnie was a very generous man," she said. "He took care of his co-stars very well. Once, I asked for lechon de leche and he immediately sent one to the set. But he also made sure that the crew members were provided with the best food. Pantay-pantay ang treatment niya."

For eight years now, Imelda has been living in Singapore with her husband, Ben Avanceña, and her youngest child, Misha. The former actress arrived in Manila on Dec. 12, the day FPJ was rushed to the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City, where the actor died on Dec. 14 just one

minute after midnight.

Imelda said she received a text message from her daughter Maricel's sister-in-law, Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano, informing her of FPJ's condition.

"Angeli was asking that I pray for Ronnie's recovery," Imelda recalled. "I got nervous, but I didn't think it was that serious. I knew Ronnie to be a strong man. I thought he would eventually get better.

FPJ's neurologist, Dr. Abdias Aquino, said FPJ suffered a "severe brain attack" or stroke.

"When I heard of his death, I got depressed," Imelda added. "Ronnie was a true friend to many."

He was born in Manila on May 20, 1980, to a pure-Chinese doctor-father, Hayden Kho, and a Spanish-Filipina businesswoman-mother, Irene dela Santa; one of five children. He describes his family as “above average.” He speaks fluent Chinese (he studied at the Grace Christian School in Binondo, Manila, for 14 years.

Hayden Kho graduated from UST with a degree of medicine.


His popularity was not because he's a good actor or entertainer but because he was involved with Dr. Vicki Belo, the beauty surgeon of the movie stars.

His well-publicized break-up with the 53 year old doctor and his rumored suicide attempt hugged the headlines of tabloids for days and the topic of celebrity blogs.

Hayden Kho, former beau of Dr. Vicky Belo, revealed Wednesday that he is in perfect health amid reports that he had tried to commit suicide after his breakup with Belo.

"Dr Hayden Kho is in perfect health and frame of mind contrary to reports. He confirms his breakup with Dr. Vicki Belo but he is doing fine and will spend the holidays with his immediate family," a statement from the Kho family said.

Earlier reports said Kho had tried to commit suicide by ingesting diazepam pills after Belo broke up with him. He was rushed to Makati Medical Center by Belo herself, who was informed by an assistant.

Belo was the first to confirm the breakup to the media. "Dr. Belo has opted not to talk about her break-up with Dr. Hayden Kho to avoid further intrigues. Just like any love story, theirs has come to an end. They have decided to part ways. But Dr. Belo is coping admirably and Dr. Kho is doing fine," Leah Salterio, spokeswoman of Dr. Belo at Belo Medical Group, said.

The end of the May-December affair of the former sweethearts has been the subject of tabloids and gossip mags. There were reports that Belo discovered that Kho, who is at least 20 years her junior, had an alleged affair with sexy actresses Katrina Halili and Rufa Mae Quinto.

There were also reports that Belo finally decided to end the relationship after she discovered Kho and Halili’s alleged sex video, which Halili’s camp reportedly claimed to have been altered.

The two finally decided to end their affair on the second week of December.

Meanwhile, entertainment host-columnist Lolit Solis, the talent manager of Kho told ABS-CBN reporter Mario Dumaual through text messages that she is no longer managing the career of the male doctor.

"At this moment, hindi na ako ang manager ni Hayden. Wala na siya kay Vicki, wala na rin siya sa buhay ko," Solis said.

Solis also gave her thoughts on the reported sex video. "Kaya yung mga nag-de-deny, matakot sila dahil may pwedeng ilabas na ebidensiya. Dapat kung gumawa ka ng krimen, wag kang mag-iiwan ng ebidensiya."

Solis said that right now she and other people from showbiz are just hoping that the two could already move after the controversies.

After 42 days of spending summer in the Big Brother house, Kim was named the Teen Big Winner with 626,562 votes or 41.4% of the total votes at the Aliw Theater, Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex in Pasay City on June 3, 2006. Kim is a junior high school student at the Distance Learning Center of ABS-CBN, the network's school for their young talents/artists.

VILMA VALERA

Biography of VILMA VALERA

Vilma Valera, the 1961 Miss Press Photography of the Philippines (PPP) second runner-up winner. She was 15 in 1960 when she was discovered by LVN character actor Alfonso Carvajal (Alma Concepcion's grandfather) and introduced in Bakit Ka Nagtampo? (directed by Tony Santos Sr.), topbilled by Nida Blanca and Nestor de Villa.

Her biggest break was in 1964 in the movie, Salambao with Eddie Rodriguez, Sylvia Gumabao and Van de Leon as her co-stars. she was versatile as an actress landing her in several roles in action, drama, comedy, musical with top actors at that time as her leading men (FPJ, Dolphy, Eddie Mesa, Eddie Gutierrez, among others).

Vilma Valera recorded several albums before her retirement from show business whose '60s hit songs included It Must Be Him and One Day. A Bicolana, Vilma is Vilma Johnson in real life, whose father was also American.

When LVN closed shop soon after, Vilma signed a contract with Larry Santiago Productions which loaned her to other companies.

"I really wanted to be a singer, so I joined a band. We would play in Asian cities, like Okinawa, and when came back I would do a movie or two. Then, alis uli kasama ng band. In one of those trips home, I did a few movies with Sampaguita (Way Out in the Country and Pogi with Eddie Gutierrez, among them). I did films with other companies, including Salambao for Zultana Productions."


She migrated to the US almost at the same time Miriam did. She married American Air Force commander Darrell Arthur Morrow in the early ‘70s by whom she has a son, 34, and a daughter, 31, both married with one child each.

"After my husband died 30 years ago, I did not work because my husband didn't want me to. He wanted me to just raise our kids. But I got bored so I started working with a financing company. After 10 years, I decided to retire."
