Maricel Soriano (born Maria Cecilia Dador Soriano on February 25, 1965), is a critically acclaimed Filipina film and television actress.

Dubbed as the Diamond Star of Philippine movies, she started acting at the age of six with the 1971 film My Heart Belongs to Daddy with fellow child actress Snooky Serna.

In 1974, she received her first award as Best Child Actress at the age of nine at the 9th Manila Film Festival for Virgo Film's Alaala mo, Daigdig ko (Your Memory is My World). She won her second acting award at the 1974 Ilo-ilo Film Festival for the movie version of the TV sitcom John En Marsha which later became the longest running Philippine Sitcom.

Maricel developed her comic skills under the aegis of the Philippine King of Comedy, Dolphy and the late Nida Blanca, one of the country's top caliber actors, both of whom she considered as second parents.

In the 80's she was launched to full stardom as one of the Regal Babies with then-archrival Snooky Serna, Dina Bonnevie, Gabby Concepcion, Albert Martinez, Alfie Anido, Jimi Melendez, and her loveteam and one-time boyfriend, William Martinez. Her 1985 film Hinugot sa Langit, produced by Regal films and directed by the late National Artist Ishmael Bernal, is now considered one of the classics of Philippine cinema. Her classic films of the 80s include Minsan May Isang Ina, Saan Darating ang Umaga?, Teenage Marriage, Kaya Kong Abutin ang Langit, Hinugot sa Langit, The Graduates, Pinulot Ka Lang sa Lupa, and Babaing Hampaslupa.


She became known as 'Taray Queen' for her comedic antics on films which amused Filipino audiences. Excelling both in drama and comedy, she has collected a number of awards most notable of which are the two Asian TV Awards as Best Comedy Actress, and two FAP awards, two FAMAS and two PMPC Star Awards for her drama performances. Her classic films of the 90s include 90s - Ikaw Pa Lang ang Minahal, Vampira, Separada, Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, Inagaw Mo ang Lahat sa Akin, Dahas, Ama,Ina,Anak, Abot-Kamay ang Pangarap, Minsan Lamang Magmamahal, Nasaan ang Puso, Soltera

She received four consecutive nominations for FAMAS Awards in the years 1994,95,96,97.

Her 1995 film Inagaw Mo Ang Lahat sa Akin (Harvest Home) produced by Reyna films was the official Philippine entry to the 1996 Oscar awards.

In 1999, she was named as one of the Top 100 Stars of Philippine Cinema All-Time by Manila Times and in 2005 she was listed by the Director's Guild of the Philippines as one of the Top 15 Best Actresses of All Time.

Her most notable films of the 2000s include Abandonada, Mila, Mano Po, Filipinas, Numbalikdiwa, I will Survive, Inang Yaya, Paraiso and A Love Story.

On January 5, 2008, she won the Best Actress award for Bahay Kubo.

Maricel won in 38th Box Office Queen and King Entertainment Awards as Film Actress of the Year for her performance in A Love Story.

During this time, she also had two sons, Marion Soriano, and Sebastian Soriano.

She was once romantically linked to William Martinez and Ronnie Ricketts.

She was married to Edu Manzano but did not have a child.

She bore a son with a the brother of Jalosjos.

Edu Manzano is a Filipino actor, comedian, and politician. He was born on September 14, 1955 as Eduardo C. Manzano in San Francisco, California. He had joined and served the US military for 4 years.

He was formerly married to actress and now governor of Batangas, Vilma Santos , for four years, which ended in a definite separation. They had a son, Luis Philippe Manzano , during their union. He is now the live-in partner of actress Rina Samson. He has a total of three children all in all, with Luis, Amanda Danielle, and Lorenzo.

He started his acting career during the late 70’s, and he still has not slowed down just yet. His last movie though was way back in 2003, concentrating more on his television career nowadays with game shows, soap operas, and sitcoms, but he is still on top of the market.

Manzano is currently the host of Pilipinas, Game KNB?. Initially, he replaced Kris Aquino for an indefinite period. However, in mid June 2007, ABS-CBN announced that he will permanently replace Kris Aquino for the show.


Manzano is the father of Philippine actor Luis Philippe Manzano and the former husband of Batangas governor Vilma Santos. He was once romantically linked with Edu Manzano.

He had been elected as president of Kapisanan ng mga Artista sa Pelikulang Pilipino, or KAPP for short, which is the Philippines’s actors’ guild, in 1995.

He is also active in politics, having been the vice mayor of Makati during the late 90’s. He is now the current chairman of the Optical Media Board, replacing Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. when he went on to run as a senator. Edu had considered running for senate himself during the 2007 Senatorial Elections, but he backed out despite the support of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, citing lack of funds as the reason for his retraction from the race.

Luis Philippe Santos Manzano, nicknamed Lucky Manzano (born April 21, 1981 in San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines), is a Filipino actor and television host. He is a son of verteran actors, Vilma Santos and Edu Manzano. He inherited his prominent Chinese physical features from his mom, who is a governor of Batangas province.

Manzano was born to Filipino actors Vilma Santos and Edu Manzano. His stepfather is Former Philippine senator Ralph G. Recto of Batangas. His half-brother is Ryan Christian Recto.

He studied at the De La Salle University's College of Saint Benilde in Malate, Manila, majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Institution Management.

Florence Danon Gayda (born October 16, 1931), better known as Rosa Rosal, is a FAMAS award-winning Filipino film actress dubbed as the "original femme fatale of Philippine cinema". She is also known for her work with the Philippine National Red Cross. For her humanitarian activities, she received the 1999 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service, an award widely considered as Asia's Nobel



Rosal was born Florence Danon in Manila. Her mother hailed from Pampanga, while her father was of French and Egyptian descent. Her half-brother, Don Danon, once acted as a stand-in for the Hollywood actor Rudolph Valentino.

She was discovered by no less than the owner of the Nolasco Brothers Studio, Luis Nolasco.

She was cast in Fort Santiago in 1946. ago (1946). Her screen name was taken from the Tagalog words for "rose" and "gardenia".In 1947, Rosal was cast opposite Leopoldo Salcedo in Kamagong . He was made to sign a contract with LVN Pictures in a starring role in Biglang Yaman.

She appeared in costume dramas such as Prinsipe Amante sa Rubitanya (1951), and in such neo-realist dramas as Lamberto Avellana's Anak Dalita (1956), Tony Santos's Badjao (1956), and Manuel Silos's Biyaya ng Lupa (1959), which she cites as the best film she has ever made. She was named FAMAS Best Actress in 1955 for Sonny Boy, and would be nominated three other times, for Dagohoy (1953), Biyaya ng Lupa, and Ang Lahat ng Ito Pati na ang Langit (1989).

Offscreen, Rosal led a quiet and private life. She enrolled in night classes at the Cosmopolitan Colleges and obtained a degree in Business Administration in 1954. She was married briefly in 1957 to an American pilot, Walter Gayda, with whom she had a child, Toni Rose, who later became a television host.

In the 1960s, Rosal became one of the first leading Filipino actors to appear regularly on television. She was a fixture on Cecille Guidote Alvarez's dramatic series Balintataw on ABC-5. In the 1970s, Rosal starred in Iyan ang Misis Ko, a family-oriented sitcom with Ronald Remy. In 1976, Rosal would also appear in Behn Cervantes's Sakada, a film which was banned by the martial law government of President Ferdinand Marcos.

Rosal joined the Philippine National Red Cross as a volunteer-member of its Blood Program in 1950, and was elected to its Board of Governors in 1965.

Rosal has also hosted two public-service television programs, Damayan and Kapwa Ko Mahal Ko, which solicit financial and medical aid for indigent medical patients.



In 1999, Rosal was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service. She was cited for "her lifetime of unstinting voluntary service, inspiring Filipinos to put the needs of others before their own.

In 2006, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo bestowed on Rosal the Order of the Golden Heart with the rank of Grand Cross for a lifetime in public service and for her work with the Red Cross.

Vina Morales (born Sharon Garcia Magdayao 17 October 1975, Bogo, Cebu, Philippines) is a Filipina actress of maternal Spanish and paternal Cebuano descent. She played the title role in the film The Sarah Balabagan Story. She is the older sister of teen actress Shaina Magdayao.

At nine years old, she won Cebu Pop Music Festival. The song, "Paglaum", ("hope" in Visayan), not only won the Grand Prize but also earned the "Best Interpreter" award for its young singer.

Viva Films was so impressed with her talents that they offered her a singing and acting contract. The Magdayao family was very supportive of their gifted daughter. They sold everything they had in Cebu and moved to Manila. The family entrusted ten-year-old Sharon's career to Mina del Rosario of Viva Films. Her first movie was Nakagapos na Puso, in which she played the niece of Tonton Gutierrez. The film also starred Vina's idol and namesake, Sharon Cuneta.

In her late teens Vina began taking on more mature and bold roles. She appeared with Robin Padilla in Utol Kong Hoodlum. She starred with Ariel Rivera in Anghel Na Walang Langit.

For the past couple of years Vina's career as an international concert artist has really taken off big-time. In 2002 she had a series of shows with Martin Nievera in the US and Canada. She had her own successful mult-city US tour, "Vina Revealed", in the summer of 2003 and is currently in the middle of another one called "Vina's Hot!"


In 2007, she starred in ABS-CBN's Maria Flordeluna, where she played her role as Elvira, the mother of Maria Flordeluna, played by Eliza Pineda.

On August 5, 2007, she won the right to represent the Philippines at the 2007 IKON Asean singing contest. She went on and bested contestants from Malaysia and Indonesia during the finals nights on August 12 and took home the solo title, while fellow Filipino band Kjwan took home the group title.

RITA GOMEZ BIOGRAPHY

The first Filipino to be billed with a title before her name. On a comeback stint in the Bomba (Bold) Era of Philippine movies, the title "Ms." was added by her manager before her name to maintain her stature as one of the Philippines' most revered actresses.

She won the Famas Best Actress in 1959 in the movie Talipandas. She won it again in 1971 for Bakit Ako Pa?

She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in 1953 for Sawa sa Lumang Simboryo; Famas Best Actress in 1956 for Via Dolorosa and again nominated in 1957 for the movie Rubi-Rosa.

She received two more nominations in the Best Supporting Category for the following years; 1980, Salawahan and 1981, Tanikala.

She also received two more nomination in the Famas Best Actress Category; 1961, Tatlong Magdalena and 1972, Pagdating sa Dulo.

She married and separated from Ric Rodrigo, another popular actor. Their son, Ronald Bregandahl also joined the movie.

She migrated to the United States and remarried. She died of cancer.
