RAYMOND BAGATSING

RAYMOND BAGATSING was born in Manila to Filipino parents of Indian, Chinese and Spanish descent as Ramon San Diego Bagatsing III. He spent the first decade of his life in the Philippines then moved to Australia when he was 11. He returned to the Philippines after completing his studies at age 19.(Isn't his father was the former mayor of Manila, Ramon Bagatsing).

Having a solid background in mixed martial arts -- kungfu at age 12 and moving on to kickboxing, arnis stick fighting, muaythai, jiujitsu and capoeira--his acting career began as a bit player in an action film which eventually landed him bigger parts. He ventured out of the action genre when a celebrated local film director noticed his acting abilities and cast him as lead in a drama. That role landed him a best actor award –the first of many to come.

With four Best Actor and four Best Supporting Actor film awards in the Philippines, his raw talent has given him the opportunity to work on international projects and with eminent directors whose works have been official entries in renowned film festivals --Hong Kong, Toronto, the AFI and the Oscars in Los Angeles. He won the Best Best Supporting Actor in Famas 1999.

Controversy:

He used to be married to Lara Fabregas, the daughter of Jimmy Fabregas. He remarried in LA in November 2008. The bride is a 60 year- old entertainment writer /promoter, Cora Pastrana.
