Michael de Mesa belongs to an acting family that includes mother Rosemarie Gil, father Eddie Mesa, sister Cherie Gil, brother Mark Gil and ex-wife wife Gina Alajar - all multi-awarded performers for their wide range of screen portrayals. He himself has a best actor award (Urian for Unfaithful Wife, 1986) on top of a trio of best supporting actor honors (FAP for Paradise Inn, 1985; FAMAS for Unfaithul Wife, 1986 and Urian for Ikasa Mo, Ipuputok Ko, 1990).
His marriage with Gina Alajar was annulled in 2006. They got three children, Ryan, Geoff and AJ. All are in showbiz.
