Divina Valencia

Divina Valencia

Divina Valencia was born Connie Fuller in 1946. She is the mother of a former matinee idol Dranreb who is the son of an action star Bernard Belleza.

Divina Valencia now resides with the current husband Delfin Quesada in San Diego, California.

Although labeled as sex siren together with Stella Suarez, she was did not strip naked in the movie. Se just wore bikinis and other skimpy clothing. She was the favorite of other action stars such as Fernando Poe, Jr., Jess Lapid, Tony Ferrer and others.

She was only 17 then, a picture of naivete with a hint of the slinky -- thanks to a fine genetic amalgamation of a Filipina mother and a German-Irish dad.

It helped that she came at a time when the country was ready for its first sex symbol. La Divina graced the silver screen, a year after John F. Kennedy was assassinated, when the world lost its innocence. The nation was also in dire need of a fresh start as Diosdado Macapagal was on the last leg of his presidency.

Since she was introduced in "Kardong Kidlat" that launched Jess Lapid to stardom, there was no stopping for Divina. She was embraced by film aficionados as the embodiment of feline grace, guile and ferocity.

Sarsi Emmanuelle

Sarsi Emmanuelle

Sarsi Emmanuele was a go-go dancer before she became of the "soft drink beauties", the other two were Pepsi Paloma and Coca Nicolas. She was one of the highest paid bold stars during the height of her popularity.

She proved that she was not only a beauty when she worked with respected and award-winning directors. She was the lead star in Boatman , a film by Director Tikoy Aguiluz. She was an Urian award nominee for her role in this film but eventually lost to Vilma Santos who essayed the role of an activist nun in Sister Stella L . In the bio-pic of Yvonne, an earlier bomba star, she tied for the Urian’s best supporting actress award with Maya ‘Mitch’ Valdez . She also made Virgin Forest under Director Peque Gallaga and Naked City under Director Romy Suzara in the 80’s. She also made several pictures under Director Celso Ad. Castillo.

In 2005, Butch Francisco wrote

Not so long ago, she resurfaced and told the world about the humbling experiences she went through away from the limelight – including working as a takilyera in a feria operated by a relative.

,

She made a comeback last year and was cast in an ABS-CBN soap opera. But now is not really the best time to be in show business. We make very few films. Digital movies pay the actors so little (because the budget is so small) and the only way to survive on TV is to have enough strength to wear those heavy costumes in fantaseryes. But there will always be room for a real talent like Sarsi – one of the few gifted actresses who had to go through the sex film route first before being recognized for her true worth.
